Ms. Wooten received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from The John Hopkins University and has 30+ years of experience in the engineering field. She is expert in electrical and energy systems design, especially power distribution systems, emergency power distribution systems, arc flash and short circuit analysis, lighting, fire alarm, sports field lighting, site and parking lot lighting, lighting controls including daylighting, fire alarm systems, data infrastructure, and has performed numerous facility condition assessments, notably all of the Cabarrus County Schools using VLA software when with another firm. She has also performed FCA’s for Charlotte Mecklenburg and for Greenville, SC school systems.
Her work includes identifying code and life safety deficiencies in existing buildings and designing remediation projects. Her experience includes over 100 school projects. Her work also includes college and universities, charter and private schools. She is a speaker at educational conferences including for A4LE and was a member of the ASHRAE committee that wrote the first national guidelines for sustainable schools.
Ms. Wooten is an award‐winning sustainability and energy expert, lighting designer and a frequent speaker at local and national conferences on energy codes, microgrids, energy efficiency, daylighting, sustainability, and power systems. She serves on the North Carolina Building Code as an electrical engineer and is chair of the energy ad hoc committee which wrote the proposed new energy code for North Carolina.
